The Race

World’s Toughest Row – Atlantic 2023 The premier event in ocean rowing – A challenge that will take you more than 3000 Miles west from San Sebastian in La Gomera, Canary Islands, Spain (28oN 18oW) to Nelson’s Dockyard, English Harbour, Antigua & Barbuda (17oN 61oW).

During the race, rowers are entirely self-sufficient, carrying all the supplies they need on their rowing boats, including food, water, navigation equipment, and safety gear.

The participants face extreme conditions during the crossing, including rough seas, strong winds, and isolation from land, making it one of the most challenging and prestigious rowing events in the world.

 

The atmosphere at the race start is exiting, but it is fueled with alot of emotions and a sense of fear, as a rower leave port for the challenge of rowing the atlantic.

The unique atmosphere is electric but you can sense the fear,  as people help each other prepare for the challenge of the mighty Atlantic Ocean.

All with the same objective – to take on the unique experience of crossing an ocean in a rowing boat.

Rowers battle with sleep deprivation, salt sores, and physical extremes inflicted by the race.
